It's official! We have moved to our new District website, now located at acpsd.net. Please take a moment to visit and explore our new online home for updated information on all items related to Aiken County Public Schools.
As a reminder, our individual school web pages will continue to link back to School Fusion (hosted at this site) until the start of the new school year when all school-related pages will make the transition to our new web platform.
Thank you for your continued interest in and support of Aiken County Public Schools, and welcome to acpsd.net!
Supervision is provided at 7:00 A.M. Children who walk to school should not be allowed to leave home so early that they arrive at school before 7:00. If you drive your child to school and arrive before 7:00, please remain in your vehicle with your child until the person on duty arrives and opens the door.
We have two areas where students may be dropped off each morning:
1) the sidewalk outside the cafetorium (between 7:00 and 7:30)
2) the sidewalk outside the front entrance to the building (beginning at 7:30)
Students who arrive after 7:30 should be unloaded on the front entrance sidewalk. In either location, the lead vehicle should pull up to the curb by the awning to unload. VEHICLES WHICH FOLLOW SHOULD PULL UP BEHIND THE LEAD VEHICLES AND UNLOAD ONTO THE SIDEWALK ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE DRIVEWAY. Please have your child's bookbag, lunchbox, etc. ready before you stop. Vehicles which stop and wait while students gather these items will delay the vehicles which follow.
Heavy traffic on the cafetorium driveway sometimes causes impatient drivers to pull out of the line of vehicles unloading at curbside and unload children in the faculty/staff parking lot or in the middle of the driveway. This is an unsafe practice! Children who are unloaded in this manner must cross the line of curbside vehicles to get into the building. This places the safety of the children in the hands of other drivers who may not be aware of their presence. The attention of the drivers of curbside vehicles is focused on the vehicles directly in front and on the children on the sidewalk to their right. They may not see children approaching from their left. The only safe way to unload students is to pull up next to the curb and have the students exit from the right side of the vehicle. Students should never be unloaded in any other manner.
If you choose to walk your child inside, you must park in the designated parking areas, enter the building through the blue doors at the office, sign in and get a visitor’s badge from the main office before going to your child’s class. You may not park your car in either car or bus line.
4K-2nd grade students are picked up in the cafeteria car line. 3rd-5th grade students are picked up in the front car line. All older siblings will go to the location of the youngest sibling for departure.
A note should be sent if a child is to be picked up by different person, or dropped off by the bus at a different place, or ride a different bus. If it is necessary to make a change for that day, you must call the school by 1:30.
We cannot allow vehicles to wait in the unloading areas and delay the vehicles which follow. Please instruct your child to watch for you and be ready to move to your vehicle when you stop in the loading area. Pick up begins at 2:25. All students should be picked up by 2:45.
